Addressing the mental health needs of adolescents is quite a different animal than treating children or adults. They are in the process of branching out, discovering who they are, and eventually leaving the nest to become that person. The teenage years are fraught with life cycle changes, from the bodily changes that puberty brings to the social changes in their friend circles, along with the changes in the family dynamics that occur as they launch off into young adult life. As such, the need for an attentive counselor who is sensitive to these needs within the context of their family is great. We take an open and authentic approach to treating teenagers along with a good dose of accountability in order to foster their personal growth.
We treat a variety of issues occurring during the teenage years, including:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Self-harm
- Peer-relational problems
- Substance abuse
- Behavioral issues
- Family conflict
- Eating disorders
- School issues
- Teen violence
- Grief
- Emotional disturbance
- Technology addiction
